Cyber Security – Why bother…?

June 16, 2024

It would be prudent as a business owner, to protect your company and the reputation you have with your clients and suppliers… in which case you need to bother.

Cyber security attacks on businesses are becoming more and more common! As a business you need to have a plan in place to prevent an outbreak and a plan in place for how your business will react to a cyber security attack, should one occur. This is known as having a cyber security framework.

The number one form of attack currently is known as a Phishing attack, this comes by way of an email that looks legitimate but will lead you to a false location where the malicious party will aim to obtain confidential information, normally a password to one of your cloud services.

These attacks can easily fool a staff member, especially on a busy day where they might be under some pressure and feel as if this needs to be done in order for their system to continue to be operational.

Once this sort of attack occurs, it can be costly not only from a financial point of view, but also from a workflow disruption point of view, sometimes taking weeks or months to recover.

Not only that it’s reported that the harm is not limited to the business but can have an impact on the psychological wellbeing of the business owners also.

Recently BFA limited moved its IT infrastructure to Help IT, a Taupo based business. They kindly provided the content of this article, if you would like to know more reach out to your BFA Client Manager and they will put you in touch.
